Our History

SMI was founded in 1981 , supplying local farmers with custom feed grinding and mixing only. In 1994, we expanded our capabilities with the launch of a bulk rail transfer facility, allowing us to improve efficiency and provide a wider range of feed solutions to our customers. In 2006 Jeff Sparling was brought on as GM for the company. Over the years, our commitment to quality and innovation has fueled continuous growth.  

 

By 2015, Jeff Sparling and partners acquired the business, ushering in a new era of expansion and modernization. Under their leadership, SMI has continued to grow, investing in advanced technologies, strengthening supplier relationships, and expanding our product offerings to better serve Ontario's livestock industry. 

 

Today, we remain dedicated to supporting local farmers with high-quality nutrition solutions tailored to their needs. As we look to the future, SMI continues to embrace innovation and customer-focused service to drive success for both our business and the producers we serve.
